WHAT DO YOU THINK THE FOODSERVICE MARKET IN THE UK LOOKS LIKE IN THE NEW YEAR?
One of the most frequently asked questions our Foodservice team are asked is; how is the foodservice industry recovering?
The importance of this topic is highlighted by the resilience of the British Foodservice market and the growth that is expected to come into play following the lockdowns and easing of social distancing. Mintel (2020) states “Our forecast is for the value of the foodservice market to drop by - 62% to reach £29.2 billion in 2020, followed by growth of 86% in 2021 to bring value to £54.2 billion.”
The Visionary Foodservice team with our two new editions, Maria Reed and Mike Johns, have been powering through trying to help brands get ready for what 2021 will bring. Dan Head, Head of Foodservice, states “With the new year on the horizon, we have found that there are serious buyers in the foodservice sector who are their taking time to review new products and plan for a much-needed fresh start for 2021.”
There are already signs of improvement to the market, with Visionary FS securing listings for brands come 2021. Maria reflects “Although we have been challenged with a second lockdown, we have achieved a number new listings and partnerships with national wholesalers Bidfood and Brakes, along with many end users and smaller wholesalers. In addition to these wins, we also have a number of new exciting launches lined up in the US for April 2021, keeping the foodservice team busy building those relationships and generating sales!”
Since joining the Visionary team, Mike and Maria have made an impact and this is evident through the feedback from our customers. Sharing some feedback we’ve had in this week where one brand said “It has been great working with Visionary. Between the team there is so much knowledge within foodservice that has been so beneficial to the growth of our business within that area. The team at Visionary are always there to help and assist with anything as well identify new customers and opportunities for growth. I can’t wait to continue working with them into 2021.”
